This once known “Paper Capital of the Philippines” is now dubbed as “The Booming City by the Bay” for its picturesque treasures and hidden potentials that are slowly surfacing.

After a seven-hour ride from Davao City or lesser trip from Surigao City, your attention will be caught by how pristine this part of Mindanao is. The hidden wonders of Hinatuan Enchanted River are breathtaking. 

A major attraction to actually set your mood is the Tinuy-an Falls known to be the “Niagara Falls of the Philippines” due to its three-tiered falls going as high as 55 meters plus a bathing area of 95 meters. Underneithe the falls, you can see three islets enhanced by the exquisite trees, ferns, orchids and vines along the riverbank. The riverbed of stones is multi-layered and crafted naturally by Mother Earth. If you swing by at 9-11 in the morning, you’ll be amazed to see the formation of rainbow rays. Locals and tourists alike find Tinuy-an Falls ideal for lovers’ lunch cruises especially on Valentine’s Day, company gimmicks, family picnics, swimming practices and other activities for recreation.

Bislig has great spots for those who love to go windsurfing, skimboarding and skin diving. Swimming is fun at all times at Lawigan Beach. This is a good place for fishing and picnicking as well. You might already be swept away by the beaches and falls so far, but there are still more islands to check out like Hagonoy Island. You will need to take a pump boat ride to reach this pearl-shaped island that has crystal-clear blue water. It’s ideal for a tropical getaway. If you want to see some shiny rocks and stalactite formations of hard stones, Hinayagan Cave has them.

If and only when you’re visiting in time for the Charter Day Celebration, you’ll be amazed to experience Karawasan Festival where there’s ethnic dancing, showing the movement of crabs. Because Bislig is abundant of salty and freshwater, a number of crabs settle in here. The festival is flocked by natives from Davao City, Surigao City, Manila, Cebu and international visitors from the US and Europe.
