Basco nightlife

You are here:

Evening fun can be secondary to city-touring or sea adventure, but most tourists would love it if all were to be experienced. Basco, having a 95% literacy rate, is educated and skilled enough to uphold every visitor’s expectation.

The cool nights must be tempting you to go for a beach walk at Batanes Resort. As you breathe in some fresh air, you’ll be pleased to view the shimmering water brightened by the friendly moon. Your mood is just being set by nature, so that when you’re ready, you can get stuffed with sumptuous meals and chill out with no limits.

There’re plenty of choices to pick so you won’t regret having left on a jet plane en route to this provincial yet genuine “Home of the Winds” and “Home of the True Insulares”. Pension Inn’s restaurants are open earlier than the rest, and so is Doque’s Grill Haus where grilled fish and chicken are a sought-after among locals and foreign visitors. If you aren’t allergic to seafood, you might like the chef at Shanedel’s Café in Basco Town Center to prepare lobster or coconut crab to go along with your fresh lumpia. Tuna steaks with tuna sashimi are also available. It’s better to you make a reservation because it’s crowded especially on weekends.

If you think 9 or 10 o’clock in the evening is too late for you to find good food, think again. Casa Napoli will take you to Italian dining with its authentic 3-cheese pizza topped with salami and Mozarella cheese. Feedbacks from tourists say that Napoli’s pizza is on a par with top pizzas in Metro Manila. You can also sip a cup of cappuccino and espresso afterwards to surely perk you up for some dancing or karaoke singing.

If it’s your preference not to wait for too long to eat, you can stop by SDC Canteen or Paypanapanayan Fastfood serving home-cooked dishes that are reasonably priced.

Yeah, right! The name is a tongue-twister itself, and again, your patience is tested in this one. There’s more: Your sincerity can come in handy at Batanes’ Honesty Coffee Shop located in the neighboring town of Ivatan. You won’t believe that nobody is attending the store because it’s operating under honesty system. You can just simply pick your candies, biscuits, noodles, chips, instant coffee and soft drinks from the counter. Then, you can place your payment in a clear plastic jar and take your change from it, if there’s any.

In all honestly, the hang-out places and snack bars in Basco operate not just to liven up your night experience but also to test your patience, sincerity and sense of belongingness. Make a memorable trip with the Ivatans!
