Angeles City travel guide

Since time in memoriam, the city of Angeles in Pampanga is known to be the center for nightlife and entertainment in the Philippines.  The place is remembered to hold the settlement of American military for World War II.  In fact, it is the home for the Clark Free Port Zone (then known as the Clark Air Base). 

Transport

Getting to Angeles could be done by land.  Whether you come from the northern or southern part of the Philippines, it could be accessible via the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).  The said road is the link between the city of Metro Manila and other towns and cities in Bulacan and Pampanga.  However, much more for that purpose, the NLEX was established to be a road to other provinces in the north.

Just recently, the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) was also built.  It starts from the Subic Bay Free Port Zone found in Zambales.  It passes via Angeles City before you finally reach the province of Tarlac.

An airport is also situated at the Clark Free Port Zone.  This is known as the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport which was named after the former President of the country.  This makes the city accessible to a lot of tourists –foreigners and locals alike.

Climate

Just like any other areas in the Philippines, Angeles City experiences two types of seasons in a year – the dry and wet.  Dry months usually start from November up to April of the following year.  The rest of the year is said to be wet with occasional rainfall and thunderstorms.  The temperature ranges from 21˚C to 34˚C. 

Festivals

Angeles has for its name a number of festivities for each year.  Famous for its native cuisine, Sisig Festival is held every December.  They also celebrate their local version of music and dancing on the streets more popularly known to Kapampangans as the Tigtigan Terakan Keng Dalan.  The said event is the city’s way of celebrating Octoberfest (beer drinking and merry-making) and lasts two to three days around the end of October.  From the months of January to February, the Philippine International Hot-Air Balloon Fiesta is also held.

Attractions

Aside from the Clark Free Port Zone, Angeles City is proud of the Old Pamintuan Residence.  This is said to be the seat of the first Philippine government under the rule of Emilio Aguinaldo.  This residence now embraces the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank of the Philippines).

The place has several hotels where every tourist could have a very fine stay.  The most famous of which is the Angeles Beach Club Hotel whose main theme is depicted through classical designs reminiscent of the eras from the past.  It has 53 rooms that have complete amenities.

Many of the old tourist spots in the place were converted to modern-day buildings.  The Camalig is now Armando’s Pizza and Camalig Restaurant; and The Deposito is now known as the site for Angeles Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Center.  There are other places in this area which visitors will surely like to explore.
