Managua nightlife

  MANAGUA, NICARAGUA NIGHTLIFE 

Managua, Nicaragua is a city known for its exciting and varied nightlife.  The city is home to hundreds of clubs, fine restaurants, cinemas, and casinos.  One nice advantage to this city is the lower price of alcohol and theater tickets in comparison to American bars. 

Dancing is Managua’s favorite pastime, with the most prevalent being salsa dancing.  Salsa bars are found all over the city, with most offering lessons to the interested tourist.  Other popular music is Latin and American pop, meringue, and American rock.  You will be able to find a club to show off your dance moves, no matter what style of music you prefer.

Two of the most popular areas for clubs and bars are the Zona Hippas and Zona Rosa. These two lively, hopping areas boast the largest concentration of clubs, bars and restaurants in the city.  Many hotels are within walking distance of these exciting parts of the city.

Tourists and Locals alike like to visit the Hipa Hipa bar for a casual atmosphere to watch a soccer game and enjoy a beer.  Marcelo’s Sport Bar is a very popular place to play pool, enjoy music, and ingest large quantities of wonderful food.  For the very upscale tourist, Club Hollywood is similar to the high-end club you would find in Las Angeles or New York, and it is complete with the red carpet and a door attendant.  Similar to many clubs in Nicaragua, the nightlife scene is just starting at 10p.m. and many clubs are open well into the morning hours.

Most of the nightlife really comes to life during a religious event in April, the Holy Week.  Other religious events add to the attraction and attendance of the nightlife scene.

Casinos abound in the city, with most having lavish accommodations.  Nicaraguan rum is a favorite among the locals and the tourists, as it is considered some of the best in the world.
