New Plymouth Nightlife, New Zealand

New Plymouth has plenty of bars and clubs that you can go to for an enjoyable nightout, and most of these are located on Devon Street.  One of these is the Grumpy Mole Saloon Bar and Café.  This is a casually formal spot to hang out and have a drink with some of your friends.  It is open Thursday through Saturday from 11am to 3am.  Then they are open Sunday through Wednesday from 11am until late.

Club 55 is one of New Plymouth's great nightclubs where you can listen to house music.  It has couches, a bar that is lit great, and the rest of the nightclub is dimly lit.  The space is very open, but it stills feel cozy at the same time.  There isn't any smoking allowed in the bars in New Zealand, so Club 55 has a balcony so that people can smoke outside.  The dress for this place is casually formal as well.

Peggy Gordons is a typical Irish Bar where you can listen to live bands and enjoy a quiz night.  It is a great place if you want to meet some of the down to earth locals.  They also have a St. Patrick's Day street party, which is attended by the locals from open until close.  This place has more of a casual dressing atmosphere.

The Mill is a 3 story, huge place, with different tastes of music on each floor.  The Underground floor is for the cutting shapes and techno people.  On the next floor, they play pop and rock, and they have a lot of competitions here, where the DJ will give away free t-shirts, drinks, and even concert tickets.  This nightclub is fun and lively.  The dress is casual, but they don't allow scruffy clothing or sneakers.

The Crowded House Bar & Café offers a full bar with a great atmosphere.  The beers that they offer on tap are Amstel Light, Monteith's range, Tui beers, and DB Export, as well as a variety of imported and local liqueurs, spirits, ciders, RTD's, and beers.  They also have an impressive list of wines, fruit juices, Ebony coffee, and non-alcoholic drinks.  While you enjoy your drink, you can get involved in a range of activities for entertainment, which include pool, electronic video games, shooting games, motor racing games, and they even have a casino in the back.  The Crowded House is also the official Taranaki Rugby bar and is the host of local functions after the games.
