Puebla travel guide

Puebla is one of the largest and oldest cities in Mexico.  The city is bordered by snow-capped mountains, and volcanoes.  The city is also known for its regal architectural style, flavorful dishes, textile industry, onyx crafts, and Talavera ceramics.

Upon arrival at the Mexico City International Airport, travelers can ride the Estrella Roja buses that leave for Puebla every thirty minutes.  The bus ride taken from the airport costs $17 whereas if you go to the TAPO terminal the fare costs $4 or $5 only.  The buses at the terminal leave every 5 minutes.  The travel time from Mexico City to Puebla takes around one hour and 50 minutes.

When having a trip around the city, you can choose from two modes of public transportation.  Bus rides costs around $0.40. However, if you are going-on a long distance trip, transferring from one ride to another is needed.  More so, if you travel at rush hours, the bus tends to be crowded and might be having pickpockets so always be attentive about your belongings. 

Travelers can choose to ride taxis if they do not prefer buses.  But be sure to ride government-authorized and marked cabs because they are safer.  If it is possible, get a taxi from kiosks because they offer flat rates to definite area.

During the warm months, the temperature ranges from 21.1.to 26.6 degrees Celsius while during cold months, the temperature ranges from 4.4 to 10 degrees Celsius.  Occasional afternoon showers occur from April until October while days are dry during November until March.

FestivitiesThe Cinco de Mayo Festival is the most renowned event taking place in Puebla every month of May.  The celebration has parades and the re-enactment of the battle that took place between Mexican and French soldiers.  Food stalls, games and Mariachi are also ever present in the celebration.  People can also witness bullfighting.

Attractions

There are a lot of sites to visit in Puebla.  Some of the archeological spots that travelers should not miss out on are the Texcal Cave, Tenapa Pyramid, and the Fortress of Cacaxtla.  Tourists must also visit its sites such as Fuerte de Loreto, Fuerte de Guadalupe, Cathedral Basilica de Puebla, and the El Zocalo where most of the historic buildings are found.  If you want to witness Mother Nature’s gift to the city, you can see the volcanoes in Puebla which are Popocatépetl, Iztaccíhuatl, La Malinche, and Citlaltépetl.

Scenically, Puebla has a lot of things in store for you.  You have to go there in any way to at least experience all the things that they could offer.  The treats are slightly different from those found in other nations but it is worth all the effort.  You need not worry about your travel plans because you could source out a lot of information from people who have been there.
