Coahuila happens to be the third largest state in the country of Mexico. If you want to describe Coahuila in one word then the most suitable one will be ‘diversity’. The huge state of Coahuila has almost everything that any tourist would want to enjoy during his / her trip of Mexico. Some of the major cities for the state of Coahuila are Saltillo (this also happens to be the capital and largest city for Coahuila) and Torreon. The state of Coahuila stretches over an area of around 152000 kilometer square and this is what makes it as the third largest state for the country of Mexico. As per the census of year 2005 the population of Coahuila was around two and a half million inhabitants which is spread over 38 municipalities. People from European countries contribute to over 75 percent of the total population for the state of Coahuila. The European - Amerindian group is the second largest contributor with around 20 % population of the total being of European - Amerindian origin. Remaining population for the city of Coahuila is made up of Japanese, Canadian, and American origin.

The major section of Coahuila’s economy depends on manufacturing and mining industry. The state of Coahuila has excelled quickly in these two fields in last couple of years. The state of Coahuila proudly boasts about many automobile plants, metallurgical industries, and chemical research organizations which have their headquarters in this state. The largest and most important iron and steel manufacturing plant is also part of Coahuila itself. This steel plant is located near the border of United States of America and also in the proximity of Nuevo Leon (the neighboring Mexican state for Coahuila).

You might find a large chunk of Coahuila being a deserted land but that does not mean that you won’t find the greenery of nature in this state. Lagoons, green mountains, springs, oasis around white - sand, and thick green forests are also the specialty of Coahuila.
