Kumanovo is a city that is constantly establishing new structures for commercial and economic functions. Although this is the case, the city still preserved a lot of historical attractions. Kumanovo Sights are comprised of historical sites and religious sites.

Kumanovo Sights – Historical Sites

Kumanovo Central Square. This site has plenty of historic buildings and structures. Napredok. This building is situated at the Kumanovo Central Square. It was built in the early 20th century. It was originally a home of the Manufacturers Association of Kumanovo. Nowadays, Napredok is one of the best known cinemas in the city.

Kokino. This historical site has been recently discovered in 2001 but it is believed to have been constructed 3800 years ago. Kokino is an observatory site made of large stones. The site still houses stone markers that were used to trace the movement of the sun and moon. It is also listed fourth on NASA’s compilation of ancient observatories.

Kumanovo Sights – Religious Sites

St. Nikola Church. It is also known as Saint Nicolas Church. This structure was built in 1851 with an exterior enclosed by arcades. The interior is full of frescoes and elegant furniture and also has a number of galleries.

Church of St. Trojca. This is also known as the Holy Trinity Church. The church was built in 1902 and it is also considered as the youngest public religious structure.

Church of St. George. This religious site was first built in 1071. It was refurbished during the early 14th century under the order of Stefan Milutin, the king of Serbia. The walls were decorated with frescoes done by masters Mahailo and Evtihji. Some of the paintings illustrate King Stefan Milutin and Queen Simonida. The Church of Saint George is regarded as one of the jewels of Christian objects in this area.

Beljakovo Monastery. This site is believed to have been constructed during the Roman times and it was rebuilt over a century ago. Before the war, the religious site had a magnificent monastery surrounded by oak trees. Right now, the renovated church and ruins of the monastery quarters can be seen in this religious site.
