Heraclea Lyncestis. This landmark brings every visitor back to the 4th century BC, when Philip II founded Bitola. The Portico of the Court is what welcomes tourists to the site. This is where the statues of Tit Flavius Orest and Nemesis have been positioned. In Heraclea, tourists also have the chance to see the Terma and the Theatre, which served as an arena for fighting.

Church of St. Dimitrija. Partially excavated in the land, the Church of St. Dimitrija is a spectator of the intellect and talent of the old masters. This church was built in 1830 and the biggest in Bitola. It has three altars honoring St. Dimitrija, the Annunciation and St. Nikola. The floor galleries give the church a lovely atmosphere.

Museums and galleries in Bitola are extensions of the city’s past. They preserve the dripping history and lifestyle of Bitola. These sites tell the enduring stories to anyone who would gladly hear them.

Memorial Museum in Smilevo. This museum was specifically built as a tribute to the Ilinden Uprising. It has a Memorial hall of the Smilevo Congress 1903, which provides information about the significance of Smilevo in the Uprising. Another hall is created to show the life and radical endeavors of Dame Gruev.

Magaza Gallery. This gallery, with a metal door, used to be a house of trading and sales. It was the stock market of the 19th century. Today, the Magaza functions as a gallery housing different art exhibits. It also hosts concerts, literary readings and other cultural happenings.

Bitola Sights – Leisure Sites

When taking a break from discovering the history and culture, tourists can visit different villages or recreational places to relax and have a quiet day. Bitola has a number of these attractions open to everyone.

Dihovo Village. Located on the base of the Baba Mountain, this village embraces the wonderful natural environment of the city. Dihovo has many water springs and here visitors can experience a traditionally prepared home-cooked meal. Tourists can also enjoy different activities like hiking, hockey on grass, mountain biking, swimming, and skiing.

National Park Pelister. One of the most viewed attractions in Bitola is the National Park Pelister. Visitors can see several vegetations and animal species, which can only be found in the mountain. People can engage in skiing activities on this park.
