Bascharage Travel Guide, Luxembourg

Bascharage is a small town situated southwest of Luxembourg.

 Bascharage is a separate commune but it forms part of the Capellen canton. Capellen is in turn a portion of the larger Luxembourg district. The other towns in the Bascharage commune are Hautcharage and Linger. Bascharage town lies in the center of the commune. The population of the town has only 4,550 inhabitants in 2001. 

Brasserie Nationale 

This small town of Bascharage is home to some big industrial names. Brasserie Nationale, the largest brewery in Luxembourg is based here. The brewery came into existence in 1975 by the merger of two breweries, the Brasserie Bofferding, established in 1842, and Brasserie Funck-Bricher that was founded in 1764. As such, the brewery industry in Bascharage has got a long history. The brand name of the beer brewed by Brasserie Nationale, Bofferding, is quite famous in Luxembourg and it is exported to Belgium also. 

Guardian Industries 

Guardian Industries is a leader in the manufacturing of fabricated glass, mirrored glass, and floatglass that are mainly used in cars, trucks and other automobiles. Guardian has got a global presence. In November 2001, Guardian established its LuxCoating Division in Bascharage. The company had installed a coater in the Bascharage facility that could help Guardian in becoming the top innovator in the international coatings market. The company is banking on the huge automobile production in Luxembourg. 

Delphi 

Delphi Corporation of Troy, Michigan, USA, is a major operator in the automotive and transportation industries and having a presence in other high-tech fields like telecommunications, computers, peripherals, and medical. Delphi inaugurated the global headquarters of its Powertrain division in Bascharage on January 29, 2007. The company cited the Bascharage site as a commercially neutral, favorable location for its major European clients. The company mentioned that its Bascharage Powertrain division global headquarters offered an attractive environment for its business development. The division employs about 700 persons of various nationalities. 

Football Love

 Bascharage is also the hometown of UN Käerjeng 97, the football club that is famous in Luxembourg. The club came into existence in 1997 by the merger of the football clubs of Bascharage and Hautcharage, known as Union Sportive Bascharage and Jeunesse Hautcharage. UN Käerjeng 97 is one of the top National Division participants in Luxembourg and they have also qualified for the UEFA Cup a few times. Bascharage, the small town lying on the outskirts of Luxembourg, is a hub of industrial activity, with big names in the automotive sector like Delphi and Guardian choosing Bascharage for their important divisions. The economy of this tiny town is quite strong because of the presence of these industrial giants and the famous brewery, Brasserie Nationale. This football-loving town has made its presence felt in the UEFA Cup.
