Milan, one of Italy’s economic powerhouses and center of commercial activity has its own set of unique nightlife experiences. Despite its numerous common characteristics with other Italian cities such as Rome, Milan has developed its own set of lifestyle, a cool and relaxing after-work gigs.
Nightlife in Milan usually starts with the ancient Italian ritual of Passegiata- a leisurely walk along the main avenues of the city where smartly dressed folks walk about to see and be seen. During this period of nonchalant walking, one is expected to observe the traditions and manners of the people and the place. This activity is very common since clubbing usually starts at eleven in the evening and stretches until dawn.
The main bulk of the nightlife spots in Milan are concentrated in two vicinities: the areas of Brera Gallery and Navigli. During weekends, these places are packed with Milanese and visitors alike. Although these spots have the highest concentrations of bars, pubs, clubs, disco houses and cafes in town, numerous nightlife hubs are also widely scattered throughout the city. Milan’s most dominant musical genre is jazz. One can easily tell this with the number of night hangout spots playing the famed saxophone-themed music. Even so, numerous clubs and bars also offer alternatives on other musical genres such as alternative, rock, pop etc. Performance by local bands and ensembles are also widely practiced throughout the city’s clubbing scene.
Visitors and tourists in Milan can choose a wide array of establishments suitable for their budget and taste. Some of the posh and hip spots include the Martini Bar at Dolce and Gabbana, Café Atlantique, H Club>Diana, Shu and a lot more. These establishments offer high caliber services and choices suitable for VIPs and high end bar hoppers.
Night clubs that offer ultimate disco and party experiences can also be found here. Some of these fun and chill venues are the Magazinni Generale, the Alcatraz and La Banque. On the other hand, if one opts for a relaxing and budget-friendly night getaway, Milan also offers these cheap, yet trendy and chill out spots. One can try the laid back and cool ambiance of Centri Sociali that offer film or art exhibits, concerts and other events that are at times- Free!
Alternatively, for last minute choices, anyone can hang out with the numerous bars and clubs offered by the city and enjoy the taste, the place and the people of Milan.
