Surabaya, Indonesia is a historically rich city. Many monuments and museums can be found to visit during the day; however, at night the city comes alive through its many bars and clubs.
For a small, intimate bar, check out Java Jimmy. This pub has live music, a dance floor, and an Irish theme. Locals often frequent Bongos Pub, another bar with live music and dancing.
If you are just looking for music and a good meal, consider Colors. There is no dance floor, but it boasts the longest bar in Surabaya. The dress is somewhat casual, but no sandals or shorts.
Take in Desperadoes if you are looking for loud music and large dance floor. This club also has great food, but can be noisy if you want to have a conversation. The music is live, with mainly New Zealand and Australian bands.
For progressive music, try Veridical Six. A large dance floor and a DJ, it’s also a favorite with the locals.
If you are looking to take in a movie, there are also many cinemas in Surabaya. Tunjungan 21 and Galaxy 21 usually show first run movies at relatively low prices.
If you are hungry, there are many restaurants in Surabaya to choose from. Ria Restaurant offers authentic Indonesian food, with a low price and great service. Sea Master offers an unmatched selection of seafood and you are able to state how you want it cooked. For breakfast, try Shang Palace. This restaurant is also well known for its dim sum. This is only a very small taste of what restaurants you can find in this city. The choices are almost endless.
This city is very interesting and the people are friendly. Consider Surabaya on your next vacation.
