Nightlife Manado style is a favorite hawker stall with locals and tourists called Woka Nasi Kuning (meaning yellow rice) in Sudirman Street - it doesn’t shut until dawn, the food is the real deal and the prices are bargains.  

Fancy something different for breakfast?  Visit Warung Ikan Bakar near the harbor dock to Bunaken.  Their specialty is grilled fish, freshly caught and cooked every morning!  Don’t be put off by the sight that greats you, as it is really well worth a visit!

Hooks is a restaurant, club and dance spot with live music all in one.  The food is great, the bands are even better and you will find a decent mix of locals and expats.

Corner Sport Café is on the third floor of Bahu Mall and supplies a steady stream of good live music by bands from Jakarta.  Very reasonably priced and a relaxed atmosphere.

On Jalan Boulevard no.39 you will find Raja Sate Restaurant which has live music and is recommended for the best satays, gado-gado, goat curry and kampung chicken, but they also serve a variety of seafood, steak, fresh tropical juices, ice cream, and selection of wines and beer.

Kawan Baru Restaurant and Café on Mega Mas Boulevard serves Indonesian food and has stood the test of time since it opened in 1960.  The décor isn’t very swish but the food, prices and service are great.

There are many seafood restaurants in Manado but Warong Rica Rica at Bahu Mall Bay street Café has the most amazing panoramic sea views and fantastic chefs.  

Pop into Havilla Lounge at the Quality Hotel and enjoy live music every night as well as a big screen in the middle of the lounge where a sports channel screens perpetually or watch their talented bar tenders “juggling” every Tuesday and Thursday night around 7pm.
