Vadodara is the new name of the city of Baroda, India. 

Vadodara is said to have very rich historical stories which have been proved every now and then by researchers. The history of Vadodara is around 2000 years old. It was the year of 812 AD when the first civilization popped up in the land which is today known as Vadodara. Till the year of 1297, Vadodara was ruled by Hindu Rulers. Initially, it was the Gupta Empire which ruled the city of Vadodara and later on the Chalukya Dynasty which took control of the city of Vadodara. Lastly, Solanki Rajputs took control of the kingdom and they enjoyed this control for many years to come till the Muslims arrived to India.

After the advent of Muslims in India, Vadodara went under the control of Delhi Sultanate just like the rest of the India went under their control. The Delhi Sultanate ruled the city of Vadodara for many years to come. Later it was the Mughal Empire which finally brought to an end the rule of Delhi Sultanate over India (which of course included the city of Vadodara). Ruling Vadodara wasn’t a cake walk for the Mughals and after a couple of battles they lost the control of Vadodara to the Marathas. Vadodara was given the status of the capital for Maratha Gaekwads.

Sayaji Rao III ruled the land in around Vadodara for many years and he was responsible for most of the developments which took place in the city of Vadodara. He was born in the year of 1875 and died somewhere in the year of 1939. Although British had enough control of Vadodara after they over took India from the Mughals but still Vadodara enjoyed the status of princely state till India gained Independence. Finally, after the Indian independence in the year of 1947, Vadodara was made part of the Dominion of Independent India.

Since then Vadodara has grown from nothing to an important city for this country and it has become an important political hub for many politicians of India.
