Ulhasnagar Travel Guide, India

Ulhasnagar lies around 60 kilometers from the capital city Mumbai. Ulhasnagar is situated on the western coastline and in the state of Maharashtra. Ulhasnagar is part of Thane district of Mumbai. Ulhasnagar is also famous amongst the locals by the name of Sindhunagar and possessed the population of around 470000 inhabitants as per the consensus of year 2001. Ulhasnagar got its name from the river Ulhas which divides the city into two halves.

Ulhasnagar has the literacy rate of around 76 percent which is way above the literacy rate of India (which happens to be just 60 percent). Ulhasnagar isn’t a small city and this can be proved from the number of pincodes which the city has. All in all Ulhasnagar has 5 pin codes which range between 421001 and 421005. Authorities use these pin codes to refer each section with same pin code by the term camp.   

Ulhasnagar is famous for the numerous temples that are located in and around the city. These temples have given Ulhasnagar a religious look and they are responsible for bringing in lots of tourists to the city. Some of these temples are: Swami Shanti Prakash Temple, Saint Satram Dham, and Puj Jhulelal Mandir Temple.

Ulhasnagar has no airport of its own and people generally use the Mumbai airport whenever the need arises. Best way to reach Ulhasnagar is either by road or by rail. The Shahad and Kalyan stations are located in the proximity of camp one and two while Vithalwadi and Ulhasnagar railway stations are located near the other three camps. For local travel auto - rickshaw is the best way of transport. Auto - rickshaw has been extensively used in Mumbai for ages and it was this effect of Mumbai due to which auto - rickshaw became regular in Ulhasnagar too.

Some famous landmarks in Ulhasnagar are the Statue of Swami Shanti Prakash. The famous saint Swami Shanti Prakash is said to be the most renowned saints of this city and hence Ulhasnagar has a temple as well as a statue of his located within the city. Ulhasnagar also has a complete locality named after his name. Swami Shanti Prakash Chowk is named after the famous saint’s name.

Ulhasnagar is also famous for numerous parks like Netaji Garden, Gol Maidan, Sapna Garden, and Prabath Garden.
