Gurgaon was just another city initially, but in last couple of years Gurgaon has grown immensely, just like Noida. Information Technology industry and various outsourcing works have turned the economy of Gurgaon upside down and today it has become costlier than the capital of India just because of the booming IT business.
Gurgaon happens to be a satellite city of India and hence it becomes the part of NCPI (National Capital Region of India) by default. Gurgaon has also turned up to be the home of upper class people and not that middle class. Houses and land rates are soaring in Delhi and so is the cost of living. Still people are moving in numbers to Gurgaon because of the style of living and the kind of cleanliness that the city possesses.
As of now, the Gurgaon district is made up of nine blocks namely Pataudi, Nuh, Tauru, Punhana, Nagina, Sohna, F. P. Jhirka, Farrukhnagar, and Gurgaon of course. Union Territory of Delhi and the district of Rohtak surround Gurgaon. Faridabad district surrounds Gurgaon from the east. Gurgaon shares borders with Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh from the south. District Rewari and Rajasthan borders lie on the western side of Gurgaon. Himalayan and Aravali ranges are the ones between which Gurgaon is situated.
As per a consensus conducted in 2001, Gurgaon had a total population of around 229000 inhabitants out of which 54 percent were males and rest 46 percent females. Gurgaon has a literacy rate of around 77 percent, which is much higher than the national literacy rate, which is around 60 percent. Gurgaon has many migrants from the rest of the states of India and most of those migrants are from Punjab, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Orissa. Some of expatriates from Bangladesh and Africa can also be found in Gurgaon. Huge number of people in Gurgaon are Hindu but you can find some Muslims and Parsis too in the happening city.
