Dehra Dun, the capital of Uttarakhand, has always been a famous tourist spot in India for last many decades due to its historical importance and its hilly surroundings. It was recently made the capital and since then more and more tourists get attracted towards Dehra Dun on regular basis.

The Gurkha Fort located in the Forest Area of Tapovan is a famous tourist spot for its unique design. Archeologists aren’t sure about the exact date for the construction of this fort but still many stories are attached with this fort and those are enough to attract many tourists regularly.

Tapovan itself is an important tourist spot. Located on Rajpur Road, it is said that Guru Dronacharya did penance in Tapovan. This story which attracts many tourists to this place is also responsible for attracting many people to the legendry Gurkha Fort.

Located on Rajpur Road is the Sai Darbar Temple is highly important for religious visits and hence large number of tourists visit this temple from the rest of the country. Another important tourist spot is the Clock Tower which is also located on Rajpur Road itself. It was built by the British Rulers and it reflects the touch of British Empire in this area.

The importance of above mentioned tourist spots were that all of them are located on Rajpur Road and they are situated very near to each other. This helps the tourists to visit most of these hot spots without facing the headache of traveling too much.

The Kalinga War Memorial, the only one - of - its - kind, was built by the British Rulers to honour their army and this is another tourist hot spot in Dehradun. It is located somewhere in Sahastradhara Road.

Tapkeshwar Temple, located in Garhi Cantt, is another famous tourist sight. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is famous for its artistry and unique design.

The Tiger View Jungle Camp attracts those tourists who want to take a glimpse of Indian Tiger. Jaspal Rana Shooting Ranges is also a famous tourist spot. Jaspal Rana is amongst those few shooters who have brought medals for India from Olympics.
