Agartala is the capital of Tripura in India. Agartala is located on the River Howrah which contributes to its beautiful flora and fauna. It is a city of temples and old palaces. Architectural Heritage

The city of Agartala has an impressive architectural heritage. One of the architectural marvels in the city is the Ujjayanta Palace. This palace was once the residence of Manikya kings that ruled the region. The palace was then taken over by the Mughals who added a Mughal touch. Other structures that speak of the architectural superiority of Agartala are Pilak and Venuban Vihara, Kunjaban Palace and Neemahal Palace.

Economy and Infrastructure

Lately the city has changed drastically. Both public and private sectors can be given credit for its recent development. Investors found new opportunities in the city and invested whole heartedly turning the entire attire of the city. Foreign investors from Japan, UAE and Bangladesh are also finding the region quite alluring.

People are employed in both private and public sectors. Public sector enterprises like BSNL, ONGC, GAIL and TRTC are offering good opportunities of employment in the region. Agartala is a major exporter of LPG, tea and rubber.

The city of Agartala is a well planned city with a good network of roads connecting every nook and corner of the town. The city has two colleges for medicine, a national institute of technology and a college for agriculture and fisheries. There are a good number of supermarkets and hotels of all categories available for oanes pleasant stay.

People and culture

Agartala is a culturally vibrant town. Although the Bengali culture predominates in the city, there are other religions Buddhism, Islam and Christianity. Visiting the city during the festivities of Durga Puja and Saraswati Puja is always an added bonus in your vacation.

The people of Agartala are quite inclined towards sports and football is a favorite among the youth of the city.
