Volos Travel Guide, Greece

The coastal city of Volos is part of Greece. It is located somewhere in the center of Greece. The city of Volos is also the capital city for the Prefecture of Magnesia. The city of Volos happens to be the single most outlet into the neighboring sea from the largest agricultural section of Greece which is famous by the name of Thessaly.

The population for the city of Volos is around 200000 inhabitants. This figure includes the university students plus the temporary and permanent students. Other 30 percent of this total population is immigrants that enter the city of Volos from Thessaly. The best known industry in the city of Volos is Steel Manufacturing and Production. Next comes the cement section that also heavily contributes to the economy of Volos. Finally the research and development group of Volos has also gain national recognition in past couple of years. One should note that around 52 percent of the total population of Volos has tertiary employment; around 42 percent of the total population has secondary employment, and the rest 6 percent are employed primarily.

Many sides of this city have natural borders that are mostly rivers that pass through. The city of Volos is around 215 kilometer from the city of Thessaloniki and around 326 kilometer from the city of Athens. This proximity has helped the city of Volos heavily in terms of national recognition.
