Dusseldorf Nightlife, Germany

Düsseldorf, Nightlife – Going Out

When it comes to having fun, Germans have no limits, contradicting thus all the perceptions other cultures have about them as being a distant and cold nation. Düsseldorf has so many interesting and new things you had no idea about. For example, did you know that in this amazing city the first political - literary cabaret also, called “Kom(m)ödchen”, was created? Or, were you aware of the fact that Düsseldorf had a great impact on modern popular music because of the avant-garde electronic music band Kraftwerk?

Düsseldorf, Nightlife – Events

One of the most exciting events that take place in Düsseldorf is the carnival, also called “the fifth season”. For this special occasion, number 11 seems to be a magical one. Thus, the Karneval takes place on 11 November, starting at 11:11 am and continues with a big and colorful parade on the streets of the city. This is a perfect occasion for you to make acquaintance with the local customs and traditions and to meet new people, all of these helping you to make a full picture of this amazing culture.

Düsseldorf, Nightlife – Eating Out

The traditional drinks in Dusseldorf are: Altbier, a German top-fermenting beer and the liqueur based on herbs, which contains 42% alcohol, called Killepitsch. As far as meals are concerned, you can begin with the local Sauerbraten, which is a slice of beef that has been previously marinated in a mixture of wine, spices and water, before being cooked and continue with a delicious desert called “Sky and Earth”. The latter is a black pudding made with apples and mashed potatoes. It is also a particular custom of this region to serve mustard in a special traditional pot called “"Mostertpöttche"”.

Düsseldorf nightlife will not disappoint you if you take into consideration the large number of restaurants and the wide variety of dishes they offer in order to please all tastes: Chanakya and Benders Marie, situated in downtown and Zum Schiffchen and Shilla, located in the Old Town.

When you feel that there is nothing more to taste, eat, see or enjoy in this amazing city, just leave Düsseldorf nightlife and prepare for Berlin Nightlife and Frankfurt Nightlife.
