Saint-etienne Nightlife, France

Saint-etienne Nightlife- Cultural Approach

Around 60 miles from Lyon and Clermont-ferrand, the city has something to offer to all tastes: an Opera House, a Comedy theater, le Palais de Spectacles or Scene Musiques Actualles. In order to improve the artistic performances, the old show buildings are given new equipment, but also new place like Zenith or Halle C are constructed. A unique night can be spent at Astronef. Its activity is mainly that of a planetarium during day time, but it also organizes night projections for the public on its terrace. Especially in 2009, the World Year of Astronomy, it is a place worth visiting. The city is host to many festivals. One of the most important is Paroles et musique, with performances day and night, usually held in may. You may also attend Festival des 7 Collines, mainly theater evenings with shows in English and French, but also comprising other specialties as puppet shows, circus or dance.

Saint-etienne Nightlife - Fine Atmosphere, Good Food and Drinks

As the city is the place to live for many students of Jean Monet University and of The National Mining School, the nightlife is very vivid, offering many places to drink. Irish whisky is to be found at L’Irlandais or Saint Patrick, welcoming places full of merry spirits and good music, from traditional one to Jimmie Hendrix or rock’n’roll. For informal, still cozy atmosphere go at Le Colbris, or try to spoil yourself on rattan chairs and velvet couches at Le Paulaner. On Saturday night, a good option is Loco Mosquito. If noise is a problem, go to a romantic place, with a nice terrace, such as Piccadilly Circus. Go for a dinner in the city and order some local dishes, like potato specialties: La Rapee, Le Barboton, La Patia, or the crepes (pancakes) named Les M atefaims. The local cheese is Le Sarasson. Add a specific red wine, called Cotes du forez. It will help you digest easier, as many dishes include fats, especially butter, but also cheese, milk or meat. You may also try Pinot Noir or the classical Martini. A few good restaurants are: Epicerie Cuisine, La Rapee, Les Cornes d’Auroch.

Saint-etienne Nightlife - Rhythm of the City

Cha-cha or salsa or other styles of Latin music can be heard at La Bodeguita in Place Chapelon. If you prefer rap, rock techno, try places like La Mine or XL, which is a little bit out of town, but all taxi drivers know how to reach it. La Capitole is a place for single people, usually over 25. A large dancing place, being able to welcome over 600 people is Complexe Clos des Baraudes. As the dance has a mystical ingredient in it, some places- Le Temple or Le Zen – have a religious resonance in their names. No matter if you spend your Saint-etienne nightlife dancing all night or just a little bit, 4 public transport lines are available till dawn.
