Cannes History

The 19th century was a period of beautification and progress for Cannes. A British lord, Henry Brougham, the 1st Baron of Brougham and Vaux, purchased land in the area and built a beautiful villa. He lived in Cannes for much of his later life until his death in 1868 when he was interred in the cemetery there.
