It is a town that has acted as a great bridge between Russian and Finnish cultures for about 350 years. The land of Lappeenranta is also called Cavalry Town, Gateway to the east, Town of Lindens and Gate to Lake Saimaa.

Lappeenranta is a great place and as it has a very vibrant history; people from all over the world just simply love to be here in their vacations and trips. It is especially very much preferred in the winter, as the entire environment is very active and lively then. There are fascinating museums, excellent accommodations, vibrant concerts and theater performances along with amazing recreational activities. The historical fortress of Lappeenranta

The historical fortress is the widely known original city-center that was established while the mid 17th century was going on. It is one place that remains to be a favorite among all the tourists and every trip to the place without visiting the old fortress is absolutely incomplete.

The Sandcastle

The Sandcastle is actually the biggest castle in the entire Scandinavia. Every summer, a very large sandcastle is set to work by various expert artists on harbor area northern end. Every year they pick up a very distinct theme in order to make the wall sculptures in the castle. A little theatre is also there in the castle that holds various plays for family entertainment.

The Town Church

The Town Church is a great museum and a military attraction. It is also a very popular Christian site. It is located along Kauppakatu towards the north and is a place that is much visited by people.

Lappeenranta Orthodox Church

This is another of the great historic sites that attracts a lot of visitors from all over. It is a great museum as well and showcases some of the most exquisite paintings and art collections of the bygone era.

The Cavalry Museum

This is supposedly one of the very old buildings of Lappeenranta. It is a former Linnoitus guardhouse by the gates of the town and was built in the year 1772. Here, the history pertaining to Finnish cavalry of the bygone era, until today is very beautifully depicted through the guns, uniforms, and horse care items.

There are a many other attractions that the visitors can visit and have the best of their times.
