On the other hand the population for the municipality of Quito as per the census of year 2005 was around 2.5 million inhabitants. The huge population of Quito makes it the second largest city in the country of Ecuador. The only city which has more population then the city of Quito is Guayaquil. Recently the importance of this city increased many folds when it was named the headquarters for Union of South American Nations.
The annual average temperature for the city of Quito is around 15 degree Celsius. The annual average maximum temperature is around 19 degree Celsius while the minimum annual average temperature is around 10 degree Celsius. Due to the considerable altitude of this city and the proximity of this city with the equator, Quito regularly experiences cool climate thus making it the perfect place to visit for any visitor throughout the year. The spring-like weather which prevails in the city throughout the city has made Quito an important tourist destination.
As the city of Quito has hills situated within the city, it has been divided into three different regions namely the colonial old city (which is the central part of the city), the southern section (which is the residential as well as the industrial area of the city), and the northern section (which is actually the modern city of Quito, competing with many cities of this planet).
Being the capital city, the government of Ecuador takes special care of it and hence you will love Quito whenever you visit it.
