Santa Clara Sights in Cuba

Santa Clara in Cuba, is one of the most well preserved cities in all of Cuba.  It has tremendous attractions that are simply eye striking when one gazes upon their beauty.

If you are going to Santa Clara, your first stop should be Parque Vidal.  This is where all of the action of touristic sightseeing in Cuba’s Santa Clara begins.  You can walk around this scenic park and view the monument of Marta Abreu of the architecturally outstanding buildings that surround Parque Vidal.  Such buildings include the Teatro de la Caridad, the old city hall, the Plaza del Mercado Central (the Central Market Plaza) and the Colonia Espanola de Santa Clara.  As you can tell this is also the cultural center of Santa Clara.

Here you will be able to see a performance or concert in the theatre, go shopping in the central market, learn to dance in the Colonia Espanola de Santa Clara and view local traditions just by hanging out in this centrally located park.  Other nearby tourist destinations include the following:

·   Martyrs’ Park

·   Justice Park

·   Carmen’s Park

·   Loma del Capiro

·   Catedral de Santa Calra Asis

·   The Armored Train Park and Museum

·   The University marta Abreu of Las Villas

·   The El Mejunju Cultural Center

·   The Boulevard 1889

·   And much more.

The Boulevard 1889 is great to walk along for an inside sight into Cuban culture.  There are many small shops and excellent cafes and restaurants to get something to eat at.  However, Santa Clara is most known as the resting place of the Cuban Revolutionary legend el Che, or or Ernesto Che Guevarra.  There is a mausoleum and monument dedicated to him.  He is also buried alongside some of his Bolivian companions during the liberation movement of 1967 where 16 of his men also passed away.

In honor of Che and his companions, the Cuban government constructed a reconstruction model of when Che derailed a train during the infamous Battle of Santa Clara.
