Sesvete Sights and Landmarks Guide, Croatia

Sesvete Sights – The Most Important Attractions

Sesvete is a small town that counts around 60 thousands inhabitants and it is situated quite close to the capital city, Zagreb, no more than 10 minutes drive to the east. This is why it is considered one of the districts of Zagreb, having great traffic connections to towns like Rijeka, Vinkovci or Bjelovar thanks to the main roads and the railroad that connect it to Zagreb. Its good location transformed the city into a touristic attraction based especially on its closeness to Zagreb or to Medvednica Mountain.

The large department stores existing here attract many citizens from Zagreb, while the mountain attracts croats and tourists from all over Europe, mainly interested in walks, riding bikes or practicing winter sports. No visit to Sesvete would be complete without seeing the “The Parish Church of All Saints” which gave the name of the city or the incredible “Museum of Prigorje”. The Church of All Saints is a great baroque construction, that was built in the 18th century and it has two belfries, nicely decorated windows with wrought-iron grilles and a cupola that has baroque paintings on it.

Sesvete Sights- Museums

Sesvete Sights should refer to Prigorje Museum as the single important one in the city. Being located in the middle of the town, in a manor-house, it is like The Church of All Saints, a baroque construction from 1977 that exhibits today interesting and appreciated archaeological, ethnographic and historical collections.

The center of the town is also worth your attention as there are some other old buildings and houses built in baroque style, some of them being transformed in modern ones and housing from shops and small boutiques to small business centers.

Sesvete Sights- Other Attractions

Since there are not so many interesting sights in Sesvete, tourists that come in the region may find many other attractions among which we should enumerate the common maple tree that can be found in Cerje and is considered a natural monument that needs to be protected or the plave called Kozelin and located right on the mountain Medvednica, a beautiful location that offers visitors the chance to relax and breath fresh air while visiting the archaeological discoveries dating from the 2nd millennium B.C.

If a tourist likes Sesvete Sights or if he finds it attractive enough to discover its details, then we can say that we fulfilled our mission of introducing tourists in the atmosphere of a rather young town.
