Paraiso, Costa Rica Tourist Attractions

Even though Paraiso, Costa Rica is a small town, there are many tourist attractions that are available within an hour drive.

Paraiso is located about seven miles northeast of Cartago and is about forty five minutes from San Jose.  There are a number of things to do in the area, and some of them are really fabulous.

The city is right in the middle of the Central Valley, which is one of the most beautiful places in all of Costa Rico.  If you are coming by bus from San Jose, you will find this bus ride very uplifting as you see the breathtaking beauty of this region of Costa Rica.

Many tourists have started coming to Paraiso.  One draw is Lankester Botanical Gardens.  The gardens are showcases for 600 species of orchids.  Costa Rica has over 1400 species of orchids that are native to the country.

You’ll find a very modern shopping center for your souvenirs.  There is also a movie theater, a grocery store, and even some fast food restaurants, such as Burger King.  You’ll also find a really quaint farmer’s market in the center of town.  The market is a gathering place for locals to catch up on the week’s activities and provides another great avenue for souvenir shopping.

The Arenel Volcano is also a great attraction destination point that you don’t’ want to miss.  This is the most active volcano in the Americas and often you will feel the ground tremble.  At night, you can see the volcano spewing ash and sparks.  No need to worry though; the last minor eruption was in 1973 and scientists don’t expect go off again anytime soon.

Paraiso, Costa Rica has many attractions for just about anyone.  This is one of the most beautiful places in all of the country and you should consider it for your next holiday.
