Baoshan is a bustling city found in the western end of Yunnan. Even with the population of more than two million inhabitants, the city is still very traditional compared to other vastly improving cities. Although the sources of income for most of the locals in Baoshan have changed, the way of living is still similar to those in highly rural areas.

Baoshan Travel guide- Getting There

Getting to this place is very easy. Since it’s a little bit far from the major cities, Baoshan has an airport that connects tourists and locals to different parts of China. The roads are relatively better here. There is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Baoshan. Called the “Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas,” this place is home to numerous national parks. As the name suggests, you’ll find in Yunnan three massive rivers that run parallel. Between those rivers are mountain ranges that span for hundreds of acres. If you’ll able to visit different areas of the site, you can literally experience different weather conditions.

The Gaoligong Mountains are also a great place to be visited by nature trekkers. It’s a scenic as well as naturally diverse mountain range and a part of it is called home by the Derungs – one of the few recognized ethic groups of China. The place is also considered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Because of the river, Baoshan is a major power producer in the city. Geothermal power plants have also been established in the city which, in a small way, influenced another business here. There are numerous hot springs in the city that attract hundreds of tourists every day. More than 170 hot springs are found in different parts of the city so finding one is no problem at all.
