Anshan Travel Guide, China

Anshan is a prefecture level city in the province of Liaoning.  It is bordered by mountains in the east and plains in the west.  The name of the city was based from the horse’s saddle-shaped mountain located near Anshan.

Travel

The Shenyang Taoxian International Airport is the closest airport in Anshan which is 90 kilometers away.  Travelers can go to Anshan from the airport by way of coaches.  The travel time takes about two hours from the airport to the city of Anshan.

Another way of getting into Anshan is through the railway.  The city has train rides that connect the city to other towns in Liaoning Province.  It also has trains that link to other provinces which include Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia.  In addition to that, it also has trains that goes to and comes from Beijing.

Tourists can also take bus rides to get into Anshan.  There are buses that travel every 15 minutes from Shenyang to Anshan.  Furthermore, there are also buses that come from the different regions of the country into the city.  Bus rides direct from Beijing has several trips to Anshan every day.  Tourists can have bus rides that will take them directly to some of the famous landmarks in Anshan.  Some of these buses can also take passengers from the city centre to the outskirts. 

Another option that can take you around the city is by means of taxi.  Similar to other cities, the taxi fare is more expensive than bus fare. However, commuters are assured to have a more comfortable trip and can go to any destination they want without the need to transfer from one ride to another.  The taxis in Anshan are all metered but you can have an option to negotiate with the driver if you are going on a long distance trip.

Climate

Anshan experiences four seasons. Spring is from March to May which is characterized by windy yet sunny days.  Summer is from June to August when some days are hot and the temperature is high while other days are rainy.  Autumn takes place from September until October when the sky is clear and the wind is cool.  The longest season is winter which is experienced from November until mid-March.  The temperature during this season drops to -20°C and the days are freezing and snowy.

Attractions

The city of Anshan is not yet a very busy place when it comes to entertaining tourists compared to other cities in China.  However, the vacationers should know that the city has a lot of beautiful places that they can explore.  Some of the must-see landmarks in Anshan are the Jade Buddha Temple, Qianshan National Park, Yaoshan Scenic Area, Lohan Holy Land, and Xiao Temple.
