Ruse is located in the northeastern part of Bulgaria and it is the fifth largest city in the country. People can also come to Ruse by airplane. The nearest airport in the city is the Bucharest Airport in Romania which is 75km north of Ruse. Another means of transportation that can be used is the train. The main railway station at Ruse is the oldest in the country. It has daily trips to Sofia, Varna, and Veliko Tarnovo. The railway also connects Ruse to Bucharest, Budapest, Athens, Moscow, Kyiv, and Istanbul.

Ruse organizes many events and festivals all-year-round. One of the most loved festivals in the city is the March Music Days which features classical music, oratorio symphony, and cantata. Another musical event is the International Jazz Festival.

Ruse also celebrates Saint George’s Day every 6th of May. This event gives rise to a local fair during the above mentioned week. Meanwhile, a masquerade event known as the Danubian Carnival is held every June.
