Bulgaria occupies the northeastern part of the Balkan Peninsula and neighbors Romania, Turkey, Greece and Serbia and Montenegro. More than half of its area is covered by hills and mountains. The touristic attractions include the mountains and the seaside of the Black Sea known for its fine sand. The climatic and geographic diversity of the country ensures a great flora and fauna. No matter what time of the year you want to visit it you will find some activity to enjoy.

In winter, you can practice skiing and snowboarding in Bonsko, Botovets Pamprovo and other winter resorts, while in summer you can go to the Black Sea with 380 km of sandy beaches and sea temperatures between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius.

The people are welcoming and despite the legend no more cars are stolen than in other European countries and the services offered by the hotels are very good. Also the attention accorded to food, organized beaches, cleanness prove that tourism in Bulgaria is highly ranked. The most visited places are the Golden Sands, Albena, Nessebar or Sunny Beach.

Bulgaria -Attractions

Nessebur is a historical and archaeological reserve on the Black Sea coast having original churches from the 5th to the 17th century and authentic National Revival Period houses.

Albena is one of the loveliest resorts on the Black Sea coast with an ideal location, great services, outdoor activities, bars, nightclubs, discos, spas and the Natural Reserve Baltata. The beach is 5 km long with a picturesque bay. The resort is 30 km away from Varna which has an international airport and it is an important port. In Varna, you can visit the Naval Museum.

The Golden Sands- is the largest seaside resort located 18 km north of Varna. As its name suggests it has the finest sand on the Black Sea coast in combination with a crystal clear water and very rare rainfall during summer. The beach is 3.5 km long and in some places 100 m wide

If you are in Sofia for the first time, you can start your visit with a walk along Vitosha Boulevard, an area full of shops, cafes, then you can go on visiting the Cultural Palace, Parliament Square and Alexander Nevski church.

Bulgaria- Tips

You can call from your hotel room anywhere in the world; the post office is opened from 8 am to 5 pm; banks are opened between 9 am and 4 pm; you should exchange currency into the national one called LEV only in authorized points; all beaches are free and you have to pay only for chairs and umbrellas; in resorts the signs are written with the Latin letters.

Bulgaria- Cuisine

Bulgarian cuisine has Turkish and Greek influences, but the food is prepared in a simple way and with fresh ingredients. The mostly used meat is pork, veal and chicken served next to some delicious vegetables. A typical meal starts with rakia, a liquor followed by meat with potatoes or bread washed down with s glass of Mavrud or Melnik wine.
