Fortaleza is spread over an area of around 315 square kilometers and has an estimated population of around three and a half million inhabitants. Fortaleza is also the capital for the state of Ceará and it is situated in the Northeastern part of Brazil.

The city of Fortaleza is surrounded by natural boundaries from two sides and is surrounded by various cities from the other two sides. To be specific Atlantic Ocean covers the city of Fortaleza from the northern side, Atlantic Ocean plus Aquiraz cover the city of Fortaleza from the eastern side, the city of Caucaia from the western side, and the cities Itaitinga, Eusébio, Pacatuba, and Maracanaú from the southern side.

The city of Fortaleza experiences relatively hot climate throughout the year but the atmosphere is bearable due to the cool currents that come from the oceans of two sides. December plus January are said to be the hottest months for the city of Fortaleza and the temperature can touch the heights of 31 degree Celsius and can go to the depth of 25 degree Celsius during these two hottest months. The months between February and May bring in the rainy season for this city of Fortaleza. Humidity is around 77 percent during this season and the average annual rainfall is around 1400 mm. The temperature revolves around 27 degree Celsius during these months.

Due to heavy rainfall the soil tends to become poor and hence sometimes not proper vegetation is found in the city.

The economy of Fortaleza is derived by various industries most of which are the shopping centers for the general public. The industries of Fortaleza specialize in textiles, footwear, and leathers etc which are famous not only in the city but also in the rest of this country.

Another important attraction of Fortaleza which makes it an important city for Brazil is various meetings which can sometimes invite international celebrities. The Convention Center of Fortaleza is the most famous for such activities. Gatherings of national as well as international level take place in this city every year and this attracts many people from around the world.

Although Spanish and English are taught in higher educations still the importance of Portuguese hasn’t been forgotten as it is the local language of the city and the country too.
