Campinas Sights and Landmarks Guide, Brazil

Campinas is a wonderfully fun city to visit.  Whether you want to meet new people and party the night away or just fill your head with all of the mind blowing monuments and history that you can learn by visiting the museums in Campinas, there is something here for everyone.  Campinas is located in the Brazilian state of São Paulo and it is the third largest city in that particular state meaning there is a ton for you to go and see.

Brazil is known for its outlandish and sexy fashion so you may want to go by one of the major shopping outlets.  Brazil does import clothes but the majority is made at home.  Therefore, clothes are very cheap and unlike anything that you will buy back home.  Some of the best shopping centers in Campinas include the Shopping Parque Dom Pedro (this is the largest place to shop in all of Latin America), Shopping Galleria, Shopping Unimart, Shopping Iguatemi, Shopping Jaraguá and the Campinas Shopping.  Obviously, you can tell that the Brazilians love to shop.

If you are looking forward to learning about the culture and the history of Campinas and Brazil in general you should go to the Museum of the Old Railway Station.  This is the largest cultural center in Brazil and you will be able to learn everything you want to know about here.  Campinas also has some stunning architecture which can be seen at the Teatro Castro Mendes where you can also see a great concert or performance and at the Campinas Metropolitan Cathedral which was built in the 19th Century.  What makes this cathedral so fascinating is that it is built out of jacaranda wood and sculptures.

Campinas, however, is very ecological and there is a lot of focus on nature.  Therefore, there are dozens of natural sights and parks to visit including the Bosque dos Jequitibás, the Lagoa do Taquaral Park, Lago do Café, Parque Ecológico, Bosque dos Alemães, Bosque da Paz and the Municipal Park of Joaquim Egídio where you can also go to the star observatory that is on the premises of the park.
