La Paz (with official name being Nuestra Señora de La Paz) happens to be the capital city of Bolivia. The country has in all 9 departments and the La Paz Department is one of them.

As per the census of year 2001, the city of La Paz had the population of around 800000 inhabitants. Although the individual population of the city isn’t that huge when compared with some of the highly populated cities of Bolivia yet the population for the urban area of La Paz (which consists of neighboring cities like Viacha and El Alto) is the largest when compared to other urban areas of the country.
