Knittelfeld doesn’t have a very long history, the city being set here as a strategic point at an important railroad intersection. Motorways are also present here offering a fast transportation option, in case you want to visit cities like Graz or Vienna, as well as a local airport connecting Knittelfeld to the rest of Europe.

Within the city there is a public bus network but tourists usually prefer to walk due to the fact that the city is not very large, the main attractions being concentrated downtown.
