So what should you expect to see in San Miguel de Tucuman in Argentina?  A lot.  The best part about this historic area is that everything is in walking distance.  You can also practically see one historic sight from another.  Here is a short list of the historic sights that you will see:

The Governemnt House is actually where the old Cabildo was located.  It is right across the way of the Plaza Independencia.

The Plaza Independencia is normally where tourists will start their day of sightseeing because it is Argentina’s starting point since it is the major square in the city.  You will know that you are in the right spot because you will see Argentina’s version of the Statue of Liberty which was created by a famous local artist by the name of Lola Mora.

From the Plaza Independencia you will be able to see the stunning San Francisco Church which is a must see if you are in San Miguel de Tucuman.

The 9 de Julio Park is the largest public park in Argentina which boasts many sights such as Bishop Colombres House, the Flower Clock, the San Miguel Lake and various other pieces of sculptured art.

However, if you come to San Miguel de Tucuman then you must go to the Independence House where the independence of Argentina was formally declared on the 9th of July in 1816.  A representative from each province united at the Independence House on this date to sign the declaration.  Although most of the structure has been rebuilt after it deteriorated, the only original part that still stands is the most important; where the declaration occurred.
