Buenos Aires, Argentina Overview
Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city in Argentina. Buenos Aires means “good air”. Most of the people of Buenos Aires are of Spanish and Italian descent. Most are also Roman Catholics, but the largest number of Jews in South America is here as well.
Buenos Aires is the cultural, industrial, and financial hub of Argentina. It is home to one the busiest ports in north-east Argentina. However, there have been many political problems related to the collection of the taxes in this port.
Buenos Aires also one of the world’s greatest opera houses, Teatro Colon. It is closed at this time until 2010 for renovations. The theater and music culture have a tremendous influence on the culture of Buenos Aires.
There are very well preserved homes of writers, artists, and composers. There is a world renowned zoo and a very large number of parks available to all.
Tango was born in Buenos Aires, but did not become a respectable form of dance until the 1920’s. Many varieties of tango have emerged since its beginning, but all can be traced back to this city.
Tourism brings a very large part of the city’s revenue. Travel and Leisure Magazine voted this city as the second most desirable city to visit. There are many activities for tourists to choose from.
Shopping centers offer outstanding deals, due to the favorable exchange rate. The cultural and historical side of the city provides unique experiences for citizens and tourists alike. Many sporting events and concerts are held within the city, as well as festivals, featuring local artists and sculptures.
There is truly something for everyone in beautiful Buenos Aires.

Tango Show in El Viejo Almacen >> added on November 10, 2009, by zsoldicsa
There is no man on the earth who would not find the tango one of the most beautiful dances in the world. To see is in Argentina, one of its homes is absolutely amazing.
El Viejo Almacen is a perfect place to experience the sensation of the original tango performed by professionals. The building itself is not very exceptional, but what you find inside it, really is.
There are shows every evening from 10:00pm. You can see four pairs dancing like they are not even on this world. It cannot be compared to any dance show I have seen before.
It is definitely not cheap to go to such a show, but if you like dancing or just want to experience something special, definitely try it.
