Buenos Aires sights and landmarks guide

Buenos Aires is the most European looking city in all of South America.  It is an exquisite city that has not been as tarnished as other cities have in South America by the looks of graffiti and such.  Even if you had a year to visit Buenos Aires, you still would not be able to discover all of its treasures, but we will help you get to all of the treasured places that you can in your short vacation in this capital city. 

Buenos Aires has everything.  Whether you are looking for delicious food, cutting edge fashion or a mystifying history, it is all here.  The best place to start is at the Casa Rosada or the 'Pink House'.  This building has an interesting story as it was a government building and a post office at one time.  Over the years and the consolidation of political parties the two buildings were joined.  If you look closely enough, you will realize that the architecture on the left side of the building is not symmetrical with the right side.  Even the color is of interest because there are many myths that surround it.  Some say that the only materials that could be used as paint were a white base and cow’s blood for color.  Other’s say it was the joining of the two parties color, red and white and the pink came as a consolidation of the two sides. 

La Boca is another place that many visitors go to.  There is a side street in the La Boca area with brightly colored painted houses, shops, street entertainment and more,  It is also the home of La Boca Juniors, one of the best soccer teams in Argentina.  This is the area that many Spaniards and Italians moved to after immigrating to Argentina. 

Cementerio de La Recoleta or 'Recoleta Cemetery' is also a stunning place to go.  Outside of the cemetery there is a park where many people sell crafts and put on shows.  There are tours of the Cemetery in English and Spanish as well.  So why would you want to go to a cemetery?  Well, some of the most important people in Argentina are buried here and the mausoleums are works of art.  Among some famous people are Evita Perón, Susan Barrantes, Juan Manual de Rosas, Hipólito Yrigoyen, Domingo Sarmiento and Juan Facundo Quiroga.    Other destinations in Argentina include the following: Plaza de MayoColón Theatre, La Boca, The Parliament of Argentina, and The Metropolitan Catedral
