Kabul Nightlife, Afghanistan

Nightlife in the city of Kabul may not be as vibrant and as lively compared to the nightlife in other Asian cities, but the city has other plans for the first time visitors. Its nightlife is centered on food and lots of entertainment. A lot of entertainment houses, bars and restaurants dot the city of Kabul.

One shop that should be visited in the city by the visitors is the Deutscher Hof. This is a beer hall that is located at Street 3, Qala-e Fatullah. The beer hall is both a German restaurant and a catering college. High walls surround the place and this hosts regular events as well as the Kabul Oktoberfest. Dances and concerts are hosted and performed in many sites of the city. One location that hosts these kinds of entertainment and events is the Foundation for Culture and Civil Society. This is located just opposite the National Archive. For Afghan performances and traditional music, this is the place to be. The place holds a regular open-air concert of the traditional Afghan music during the warm months and the site also hosts exhibitions by the local Afghan artists.

A themed bar is also available in the city of Kabul and this is the Hare and Hounds. This is a pub that is ‘shipped’ directly to the city. All the features and furnishings inside the bar, from beer mats to dart boards are truly English.

The L ‘Atmosphere is a good place to hang out as well. The bar is situated in Street 4, Qala-e Fatullah. This bar is a restaurant but the main attraction of the bar is not its food. During summer, the bar is always full and this is the choice of bar of most expats in the area. On Thursday nights, the bar resembles that of a university bar with lots of university students and young and single women. Another bar that is worth checking out is the bar at Mustafa Hotel.

For those who love watching movies, nightlife will be defined by a visit to the cinemas. The Shahr-e Nau Cinema is Afghanistan’s first cinema and this cinema shows Indian movies from Bollywood.

The food of the city is sumptuous and this can be a good way to enjoy the city. Anaar is a good restaurant to start with but it is a bit pricey.
