English Breakfast vs. Continental Breakfast
Could anyone tell me please what is the difference between English and Continental breakfast? Hotel rooms with Continental breakfast are much cheaper. Why is that so? Thanks.

One of the reason why english breakfast is more expensive than continental breakfast is, that the english traditional food you get at the morning is much more than at the continent.
The second is, that continental breakfast is more common than the english, so it is cheaper.

Thank you for your answer - meanwhile I found out that Continental breakfast stands for croissont or brioche (filled with chocolate or jam) with coffee, cappuccino or tea, but an Englsh breakfast is a more abundant full meal.

Very true Erato. But then you always know that this really depends on where you are. In Thailand for example any breakfast you are having be it Continental, English or American, will resemble something Western with no real guideline as to how to make it, but you will still see a big difference to the Asian dishes available :)

I m not entirely sure, but after my experiences with english food, I can understand why hotels are advertising with continental breakfast. I spent a night and a day in London 15 years ago, but the breakfast I got was so weird that only my alcohol level made it possibile to eat it. I got some eggs with PEAS!!!
In England even McDonalds is other. Their hamburger are tasty like a wooden board...

Yeah, the english breakfast is especially good for killing the bad taste after a night at aclub with some drinks.

You know there is an old Hungarian phrase saying "You should cure the bite of a dog with its fur", often mentioned in English just as "hair of the dog". I think you know what I mean. :P
