Hammamet is a town, relatively well situated. With a lot of hotels, some of them upper luxury class, are along the tourist areas. There's often a private beach attached to the hotels. The city itself is as many other tunisian cities, sometimes not really clean. The yachting harbour of Hammamet is nice, with a lot of good bars, clubs and restaurants, that have a real high standard, regarding other tunisian places. The medieval city center with its fort is also worth a visit, but be careful, the shop keepers always try to sell you something. So only start a conversation, if you want to buy anything.
Altogether it's a relatively nice opportunity to make a short stop.
