Yesterday I took a visit to the newly Dendrological Park inaugurated last week by the Oradea City Hall.
The park is situated in the north of Oradea Fortress and is open to the public since April 10.

Because of it's location near the Oradea Fortress, an important historical monument, the City Hall added information panels with history of the Oradea Fortress.

The landscaping was made with organic materials only, such as tree bark and natural stone, there is also a vast collection of plants, which is giving it's dendrological value.

Near the Golden Bastion of Oradea Fortress, is a small lake with aquatic vegetation and water lily flowers

This is a small step in giving back it's value, there is plenty of restoration needed to be done to the Oradea Fortress.

If you ever come near Oradea, you shouldn't miss this park.

Its late 19th century name: “Paris on the River Pece” reflects beautifully how prosperous the city was by that time. Though the World Wars and the Communist Regime deteriorated the city image badly, in the past twenty years Oradea showed a fast paced development and a real upswing, so that now its old praising name starts to be heard again. The fine architecture the city center can take pride in conveys an atmosphere that... Read more »
