The Carnival of Flowers is an event which is organized in every year on the 20th of August in Debrecen, Hungary. This day is the national holiday in Hungary, which means that in every bigger city different events are organized.

In Debrecen this Carnival of Flowers is organized which means that different firms or groups of people make a flower 'car'. This car has a part which is on the ground and has wheels and on this is the flower statue. The statues represent mainly scenes from hungarian history, but it can be anything else too. These flower cars get points and in the afternoon the winners are announced.

In Oradea this carnival continues on the 21st of August. The winning cars come to the city center where they meet the ones made by romanian people. Last year the shopping center of Oradea, called 'Lotus Market' had one car and a city close to Oradea also had a really good one.

After taking a look of the cars we could listen to the music played by some bands, and in the evening there were fireworks.

Oradea Sights

A real masterpiece, renowned for its 365 windows, the Baroque Palace is considered one of the most important baroque complexes in the country. The once „Paris on the River Pece” has still much to offer. Oradea of today is again, a prosperous city, a city where the visitor can have a really wonderful experience.... Read more »
