Montreal was very interesting. After doing a 5 hour trip to Montreal from Toronto, we immediately got into the meeting room to meet up with other business partners. We had a long and intense discussion and went for a quick lunch.

The smoked meat is apparently the big thing here, but I rather had a rib eye, as that's the only thing I can't really get over here in Europe.

I was determined to check out the night life a little on my own on this beautiful hot summer night. My partner was asleep already because of the jet lag. I was tired as well, but everybody had told me to go out in Montreal, and so I did.

My outing came to a stop after I had walked about 45 minutes to the old part of Montreal. Just when I tried to enter the club I noticed that I had left my wallet at the hotel:(This sucked... so I changed plans and just walked back to the hotel and accessed the Internet.

The next day was relaxed. We went downtown and looked around a bit more. We were invited to a BBQ at 6:30 and then for dinner again at 8:30. Crazy!

The BBQ was excellent, some very very good steaks, great potatoes, grilled peppers and fantastic mussels to start off. I could have eaten a lot more but I had to leave some room for the steak I was going to eat 1 1/2 hrs later:)

The steak at the restaurant turned out excellent as well. Some great appetizers, and dessert, as well as 'fantastic' wine was also part of it. The place is called Cavalli and you should really try it some time when you get to Montreal.

Sunday was another perfect and also relaxing day. We took a cab up on the Mont Real, located in the center of Montreal and after which the city should be named:) It's a green haven where you simply forget the big city life.

The next day, we had another meeting and were then off to the Niagara Falls the next day.

BTW something I learnt on this trip is that you should always have a router with you, if you plan on sharing an internet connection. We both logged into the same connection, and we both had to pay for the connection, which kinda sucked. They check your MAC address, so all new laptops have to pay, even though you are in the same room.

Montreal Travel guide

Montreal, QC, CanadaWhat is most appealing for the visitor is that there is a blend of totally different cultures, the people are so diverse and still live together as a community. It is true though that they live in separate neighbourhoods. The Anglo neighbourhoods are to the west and north of downtown and the Francophone ones are to the east and north. The universities are also divided into two English and two French. There were moments when peace was shattered by those who wanted to ban all other languages but French on public signs and even aspire to be independent from Canada. It was a rough period for the city that has known a moment of economic decline.... Read more »
