by Not for the average bear! Provincetown which can be found at http://www.provincetown.com is a beautiful little town at the far end of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. We arrived for a four day stay early in August 2009. We had spent the previous three days on Martha's vineyard which was beautiful and quiet.
P'town, as the locals like to call it is a great mix of gay and straight tourists as well as a year round portuguese american community left over from the days of whaling and cod fishing. The biggest industry in town these days apart from hotels and restaurants must be whale watching which we did for sunset on our second day, http://whalewatch.com.
We saw a ton of whales and had a memorable day out. We stayed at the Carriage House Provincetown - a bed and breakfast http://www.thecarriagehse.com, which is close to the town center but far enough away to be quiet and tranquil. Overall everyone was friendly and welcoming. There is a lot of open space nearby in the national seashore park where all the best beaches can be found. Go! you'll love it!
