Recommended Taranto Guide

Taranto History

After the founding of Taranto, the people created a monarchial type of government based on the Spartan rule. The development of the city was restricted to the shoreline since the residents of inner Apulia resisted the rule of Taras (Taranto). All undertakings of Sparta were fully supported by the city of Taranto. For a period of time, it became one of the most powerful cities, having great wealth and power. Taranto History – Roman Invasion The Italian started to invade Taranto at the beginning of the 3rd century BC. For this reason the city started a slow decline. Many neighboring cities and towns fell under the rule of Rome. However,... Read more »

We left a bit late to the beach the next day, but it turns out that we still had way too much sun that day. It wasn't really hot, but then the sun is too strong for anyone not used to it. Getting out to Ostia is not too easy, so if you go... Read more »
