Go to Kilkenny during the summer, Ireland

I love Kilkenny, while it is crowded in the Summer, it is a perfect place to visit. It is really very small, but there are many things to do and admire. You can go to small hops to buy nice pieces of handycraft. There are many lovely places to eat and drink a good beer. The castle and city center are full of interesting little corners to explore, and the walk by the river Nore is a great place to imagine what life was like in this city in the late Middle Ages. The old buildings are very well preserved. I really love to go there.

Sligo History

Fortunately, by the mid-1400’s, the town had gained a port and more importance.  It is listed in the trade records of important businesses at the time, including royal records.  The port also played a major role in the Great Famine of the mid-19th century.  Over 30,000 people left Ireland through the Sligo port between 1847 and 1851 in order to escape extreme poverty and even death.
