New Delhi is the capital of India, being built and designed specifically for the purpose of becoming the capital. He received this name since the capital moved from Calcutta in a southern part of an oldest town called old Delhi or occasionally the old fortress.
Today the capital has two faces. The first face of it, The New Delhi, has a modern aspect showing us a great metropolis, with high buildings used as offices, parks and large bluevards, luxury hotels, etc.. The second face, the Old Delhi, separated from the first by a line unseen, is inhabited by Hindu and Muslim there are preserved forts and mosques from the seventeenth century.
The main attractions of the city are: Jantar Mantar, Humayun's tomb, the great Red Fort, mosques and Moti Masjid; Laxami Naravan Hindu temple, Gurdwara Sahib Thakat-akal, Bahai Temple, India Gate, Connaught Place.
