Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, is located on a beautiful side of the Danube and has two parts – Buda and Pest. Buda is the older part with medieval buildings; Pest is the commercial center, a beautiful blend of new and old satisfying holidaymakers of all ages.

Because of its marvelous architecture and great cultural heritage, Budapest is also compared to Paris. It is a mixture of luxury and simple traditions and it also has a turn-of-the-century feel to it.

While visiting Budapest, make sure you check out the great range of over 100 springs with thermal water and around 50 swimming pools and other therapeutic baths. Bathing was popular even in Roman times, and a wide range of therapeutic treatments can be enjoyed. You can go to: the Király Medicinal Baths, or the Rudas Medicinal Baths both of great architectural interest. Taking a bath or having a treatment there is not expensive

Let’s not forget that Budapest's highlights also include a cruise along the Danube, strolling along the riverfront or across romantic bridges, visiting the romantic island on the Danube, climbing up Gellért Hill that offers a fantastic view of the city and visiting Citadella that contains most of the medieval buildings left in Budapest. The city is also dotted with museums waiting for you to visit.

Some of them worth mentioning are The Historical Museum of Budapest that boasts ruins of the old city, and The Hungarian National Museum, exhibiting remarkable treasures among which you can see the oldest skull in Europe.

If anyone is interested in Budapest's great culinary tradition they should know that it goes back to the nineteenth century and even if there’re plenty of local dishes on offer in the city - among local dishes you can taste halászlé, a kind of fish soup and gulyás, a thick soup with meat - there's plenty of other choices of lighter flavors and besides exploring new tastes visitors could go for traditional folk music and dancing among which you will find the gypsy music.

Budapest has many nightclubs, bars, discos and casinos. In cinemas you can watch plenty of films in English and the magnificent Budapest Opera House with excellent seats and modern stage has regular performances. Thickets are not very expensive.

You can't resist getting charmed by all that this city has to offer, the options are wide open so go ahead and take it all in Budapest!
