The antique metropol Knossos, located 3 miles from the capital Hersonissos, was an ambigous experience for us. We enjoyed the famous king Minos' castle's ruins. On the other part we had a messy experience in a restaurant, where we eat.

But nice things are longer in your mind, so I want to write here a bit about those wonderful archeological tresure Castle of Minos.

Homer wrote the history of this legendary town 700 years after the towns' destriction. After this story in the 16.th century b.C. ruled king Minos, the oldest son of the godking Zeus and Europa. He built some more floors with approximative 1300 rooms. The greek god of the seas, Poseidon, made Minos a gift in form of a white bull with the advice, he should sacrifice the bull to Zeus. Minos liked the bull so much, that he ignored Poseidon's advice and sacrificed a regular bull instead of Poseidons gift. Zeus found out and bekame very angry so that he punished Minos: his wife Pasiphae fall in love with the white bull. She asked the architekt Daidalos to construct a wood cow, which they masked as a real cow, to copulate with the white bull this way.

Pasiphae borned the meneating monster Minotaurus. His body was human, the head of a bull. Despite this fact, Minos didn't kill Minotaurus; instead he ordered daidalos to built a Labyrinth, to hide the Monster.

The son of Minos was killed in Attika during a sport event. As revenge Minos obliged the Athens in each 9th year to sacrifice 7 young men and seven young women. Those young people should be eaten by the Minotaurus. Prine Thseus offered himself as a hostage to make an end to this bloody spectacle. Arrived in Crete he fall in love with Ariadne, Minos' daughter.

She offered him her help, when he took her to Athen. She gave Theseus Daidalos' magic ball of wool. With his help he was able to find the way out of the labirynth. He killed the Minotaurus, sacrificed it to Poseidon and left Crete with Ariadne.

Kavala Nightlife

Picturesque Kavala is not only worth seeing during the day, because when the Mediterranean sun sets over the Aegean Sea, this contemporary seaport transforms into an exuberant hotspot.  As the natural light from the sun fades away in the distant horizon the city becomes illuminated in a brilliant display of multi-colored artificial light. Now a kaleidoscope of a thousand colors, Kavala glimmers like a jewel against the inky night sky. Before you embark on nocturnal festivities around the city, you simply must partake on the delectable Greek and marine dishes that Kavala’s finest restaurants have to offer.... Read more »
